The Word Play, Natural Monuments, Rodeo Ruby Love and El Boxeo at The Elbow Room in Ypsi

After the massiveness of last weekend, it was nice to take in a smaller show. The kind of show where if a band isn't playing, they're up at the front of the crowd. The kind of show where everybody's friends and playful chiding flys freely. The kind of show where you can finally see Natural Monuments (to quote Annie, so satisfyingly pop-y). The kind of show where you can get The Word Play to do an encore, even if they're almost ready to pack up. The kind of show where I can dance under an umbrella and a sheet.

What grows into KFests gets planted at these shows.

Aww man, did the Elbow Room get rid of the Elvis tapestry?

i just wanted to add that one of the bands that played, Rodeo Ruby Love (6th row down), is from Indiana. Very interesting band, we dubbed them the "emo version of Canada."

Annie/Erik (sp?),

Thanks for coming out to this show. It was the first show that I have entirely booked for Natural Monuments that I felt was completely successful. I appreciate your attendence and support.

I really love what you guys have going here. Nice to see people who have as much passion for the MI music scene as I do.

Keep up the good work!
