Rescue

As you might know, Rescue will be playing their final show at the Magic Stick on April 28. Rescue has been a strong presence in the Michigan music scene since 2000, and will be sorely missed. Their most recent record, Paranoid, is FANTASTIC and quickly became one of my favorite albums of 2007. Front-man Al Scheurman wrote a bittersweet parting letter to friends and fans of Rescue; you can read it on their myspace blog.

it just makes me so sad that rescue is breaking up. as i discovered them (via slowdance records - another favorite band of mine is signed to it) and heard "i am the queens of comparison" for the first time, chills went up my body. not kidding.

and of course, missed them every time (and there was the one time where they were playing temple club, but couldn't make it at the last minute. and it made me completely sad.) and i'll be missing the last show as i'm going to be out of town for another show that's happening. dammit.

but i'll be there in spirit. rescue was amazing. and though i still need to get their albums (especially paranoid), what i heard was amazing. they're going to be sorely missed. (by me. and everyone else.)
